Five More Steps Writers Can Take To Protect Against AI

In these days of the rapidly-developing world of AI, here are five steps things writers can take to defend themselves against companies stealing their work and infringing on their copyrights:
1. Take control of your work and join Created by Humans to license your AI rights. Created by Humans pursues deals with AI companies to use your books for training their AI models. For more information visit www.createdbyhumans.ai
2. Certify your work as “Human Authored” by the Authors Guild and display insigna (above) on book cover, following the usage guidelines at the Authors Guild.
3. Search the The Atlantic Magazine search tool, the LibGen Database, to determine if your books were pirated by META to train AI and send a letter of protest to Meta.
4. Add the “No AI Training Notice” on your copyright Page. Here’s the link the Author’s Guild’s suggested language for your notice:
NO AI TRAINING: Without in any way limiting the author’s [and publisher’s] exclusive rights under copyright, any use of this publication to “train” generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to generate text is expressly prohibited. The author reserves all rights to license uses of this work for generative AI training and development of machine learning language models.
5. Stay informed. Join the Authors Guild and sign up for their free newsletters, and the Copyright Alliance as a Creator for FREE.
